Tim Bernes Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, says that "learning to code gives you a completely new perspective when you look at a computer. Before, you think of it as an appliance—like a fridge—accepting what it can do. After, you know that you can code that computer to do anything you can imagine it doing."
This Monday morning, we at Vic Park start our participation in the Hour of Code: a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in more than 180 countries!

U.S. President Obama recently kicked off Hour of Code: the world-wide movement to show people that writing computer code can be interesting and fun.
The president wrote a single line of JavaScript:
moveForward(100);
That code is all it took to get Elsa to move 100 pixels to finish drawing a square in a secret, not-yet-released JavaScript version of the Hour of Code tutorials featuring Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
Drawing one line to finish a square isn’t hard. It’s not rocket science.
And that’s exactly the point.
That’s how computer science starts. You don’t write a fully-fledged game when you write your very first line of code. You write something as simple as
PRINT “Hello, World!”
